In this 80-hour class, participants will learn the necessary skills to design a productive property of any size. This course includes topics such as:

Permaculture Ethics and Design Principles, Water Systems, Building Healthy Soils, Passive Solar Building and Retrofitting Existing Buildings, Building Greater Personal and Community Resilience, Growing Nutrient Dense Food, Emerging Opportunities in the New Economy.
Please note industry equivalent is $2500.

  • Understanding the role of soil in an ecosystem.
  • How to build healthy soils.
  • Introduction to the micro biome.
  • Restoring degraded ecosystems.


  • Designing efficient water systems.
  • Passive and active harvesting.
  • How we can “grow” our water resources.
  • Drought proofing landscapes

Food Production

  • Growing nutrient dense, super healthy food.
  • Understanding and applying principles of regenerative agriculture – from back yard to farm scale.

Building Design

  • Passive solar design.
  • Renovating and retrofitting to increase efficiency, and lower (or even eliminate) running costs.
  • Using natural materials.

Integrated Design

  • learn how to integrate elements into a whole system that increases resilience and efficiency.
  • Systems thinking.


  • Integrating animals into a system.
  • Creating habitat for healthy and happy animals.

Disaster Preparedness

  • Learn how to create more resilient households and local communities

Includes site visits to properties showing various examples of permaculture principles in action at both domestic and farm scales.

Upon successful completion, students will receive the Internationally recognised Permaculture Design Certificate

Completing the PDC enables you to teach, design and use Permaculture in your business name anywhere in the world!

Resources included are a 100+ page book of notes, and access to each presentation via Dropbox.

Through the ACFE Learn Local government funding, there are 25 funded places available at $595. (normally the PDC is $2,500 – $2,800)
